This ginkgo tree is estimated
to be about 1,000 years old; it is 23m in height,
and its trunk is 8.62m in circumference at breast
height. There is a legend that a certain Maeng
planted this tree in the 16th year the reign of
King Seong(523-554) of Baekje, at the time that
the kingdom moved its capital to Sabi. It is said
that when epidemics were rampant, only this village
was free from disease; hence the village regarded
this tree as a source of divine protection.
